THE CHALLENGE OF A LIFETIME-
CROSS THE ALPS!

GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run 2008

CHECKLIST

We are certain that this globally unique super run across the Alps will be an unforgettable experience and the adventure of a lifetime for you. We are doing our best in organizing the race and accommodation so that everything will run smoothly. Nevertheless, your own personal preparation is decisive for your success.

For this reason, we have put together a small checklist, which should make it easier for you to be well equipped for the start.

1. One Emergency Kit per team
For safety purposes, this should contain the following items:
1. Rainwear (rain jacket and long pants) for both participants
2. Warm clothing (fleece sweater or similar) for both participants because
weather in the Alps can change by the minute
3. Scarf and cap
4. 1 small first aid kit for every team / tape for blister
5. 1 survival blanket for every team
6. ID card, money
7. Sun-blocker
8. Set of cards, trail book, emergency telephone number (supplied by us)

2. A bag with your personal belongings for the evening and the night.
When registering in Ruhpolding, each participant (two per team) will receive, free of charge, a special Craft duffle bag (size 78cmx34cmx34cm) imprinted with their start number. This bag should be used for the personal belongings, which you might need after the end of each stage for the evening and night.

This bag also has to be used to store your sleeping bag in case you have chosen to use the Transalpine-Run Camp facility. Both team participants should drop off all bags at the transportation truck on time together on the morning of every stage (location and time will be announced). The bags will be transported to the next stage location where you can pick them up on arrival either at the Transalpine-Run Camp or directly in your hotel. Please understand that we can only transport one bag for each participant and cannot accept any additional items.

3. Accommodations
As a rule, each participant who signed up for the Transalpine-Run Camp will have an assigned spot. We will do our best to place your bags directly next to your sleeping point. The following morning, the team members must bring again their bags together to the "Transalpine-Run Camp" truck, which will be parked near the sleeping area.

If you choose to switch from the Transalpine-Run Camp to a Bed & Breakfast during the event, you can do so without any problem. Tourism offices at the finish line of the various stage locations will put up information booths at which available rooms for the respective night and area are listed.

Please note that if you choose to take a room in a hotel or Bed & Breakfast in spite of the fact that you already booked a spot in the Transalpine-Run Camp, you have to pay for it. It will not be possible for us to refund you the Transalpine-Run Camp charges you had already paid. Also in this case, please bring your bags back to the "Transalpine-Run Camp" truck the next morning for transportation.

4. Mobile homes
Each stage location has an assigned parking site for mobile homes. Town maps, which indicate the designated parking areas, are available through the Race Office. In order to respect the local laws it is prohibited to camp outside the designated parking areas. You'll face the possibility to be prosecuted by police.
Some villages will charge an overnight fee for your RV space rental.
We kindly ask you to leave the area exactly the way you found it. In the event that there is no designated mobile home parking site, please look for the nearest local camping area.

As participant of GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run, you will have the opportunity, to hire campers at special conditions, especially equipped for this event. You`ll find further information at www.drm.de.

5. Running computer
The GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run route will be marked as good as possible with arrows and tape. However, there always is a risk of arrows being put down or, even worse, put into the wrong direction by somebody. Therefore we will equip you with a detailed trail book and maps. The trail book gives you precise kilometer and altitude data for every route change. For this reason, we strongly recommend that every participant should have a running computer and every team an altimeter.

6. Running purposes Check
We will check your emergency kit every morning randomly. This will happen for your own safety.

7. Catering on the course
7.1. Check Points
The check-/food supply points offer sports drinks, water and energy bars and fruits in sufficient degree. Please be a sportsman and leave food/drinks for your co-competitors, who will pass the point after you.

7.2. Finish Catering
In every finish area there is a finish catering for the participant. Each village will provide food and drinks.

7.3. Pasta Party
Every night there is a pasta party. Please don´t forget your participant card because only with this card you´ll get your dinner. Each village can choose the dinner for the participants. Your family/friends can also have dinner at the Pasta Parties, but have to pay for (see attached form).
