GORE-TEX
Transalpine-Run a great success
In 2007 the GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run took place already for the third time in a row. Three month prior the starting signal in Oberstdorf was fired, more than hundred pairings had already entered the starter field. Finally, 170 teams competed in last year’s race with 154 of them finishing together with 28 individual runners. But 2008 seems to promise an even bigger crowed tackling the Alpes. Five months before the fourth edition of the Transalpine-Run takes place, more than 250 run enthusiasts have already registered to be part of this great experience. No wonder if one reflects the past.
97 teams took part in the debut of the Alpes-crossing run. From September 4th to 10th, 2005, the course led in stages from Oberstdorf to Latsch im Vinschgau. 86 duos were able to make it to the finish after 200 kilometres which were peppered with 10,000 metres of elevation gain.
One year later, there were 240 runners tackling the enlarged distance in teams of two. In eight days, the participants ran over rough and smooth starting on September 9th, 2006. This time, they had to overcome 240 kilometres and 14,000 meters of elevation gain – an experience which welds together.
We are raising our hats to the participants and show our respect for their achievement finishing the exhausting distance. The teams – impressed by ambition and endurance – displayed an extraordinary team spirit and companionship within all multinational pairings.
