There are many repeaters among the participants of the GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run. Compared to that, the situation concerning the stage towns is different as this year the ultimate running experience leads on a totally new designed route across the Alpes. In this series, we will introduce all 2008 stage towns. We will start with Niederdorf, the finish of the seventh and thus second-to-last leg.

Salomon at the GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run 2008 |

Salomon – The Mountain Sports Company - is engaged since several years in mountain sports.
Salomon as brand became popular of course by having great success in alpine racing sports. But during the last years the softgood ranges - Footwear, Apparel and Gear became more and more important and keep by now more than half of the total turnover of Salomon.
Salomon as main sponsor for several Adventure Races (e.g. Raid Gauloises, Salomon X-Adventure…) during the last years has also eked out to be a successful team sponsor and to be known in the scene as an authentic and progressive brand.

Kick off tomorrow |

The last
prearrangements are almost done! All organizers have arrived
in Oberstdorf and the two pre-runners Andi and Heinz from
Vivalpin are already on their way to check the security
measures on the route and to plug the pennants. The accreditation
is running on full speed and most of the 328 runners have
already checked in. The international crowd from about
26 nations is meeting for the first get-together at the
Pastaparty tonight. Today still without any muscle aches!

8 stages: the first stage is Holger´s home-stage
in Bavaria and the last two stages from Mals to Latsch
are the home territory of Klaus.

the GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run, and Klaus, who is
starting for the first time are prepared perfectly and
can't wait until the starting gun will be fired tomorrow.

the third time, St. Anton is a stage town of the GORE-TEX™
Transalpine-Run. On September 2nd, the second leg, which
started in Steeg, ends in the Tyrol holiday resort. The
next day, the runners head for their next stage town Galtuer.

Free entrance to the indoor pool

Good news
from Steeg: The finish town of the first stage offers
a free entrance for all participants of the third GORE-TEX™
Transalpine-Run to the Aqua Nova pool, where all runners
can relax from exhausting 28.9 kilometres and about 1,400
metres of elevation gain. The entrance includes the showers
and the pool itself. Those, who enjoy some action, should
check out the 60 metres long water slide.
The Transalpine-Runners, who want to relax in the spa
area of the lately renovated indoor pool, have to pay
the extra charge. But then, the bio, steam- and block-house
sauna are all yours.

Last year's winners in the mixed
category start again for Steeg / Lechtal

They
are ready to go! The reigning champions in the mixed category
Magdalena Schiffer and Markus Friedel will try to repeat
their victory of the 2006 GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run
in 2007 again as team "Naturpark Lechtal". It
wasn't a question at all for both athletes to try to hold
on the title because Magdalena and Markus were very impressed
of the perfect organisation, the beautiful scenery along
the trails as well as the infecting good atmosphere in
the stage towns. But they also know that it will be a
tough challenge to repeat last year's good result.

Trail Runner's Summit of Nations in the
Alps
This year's GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run
will don an even more international flair than years prior. Once
again, runners from Great Britain, the USA, Switzerland, Austria,
Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Luxembourg and Brazil will
vie for leadership across Europe's High Divide. New on the list
of international contenders are reps. from France, Romania, Scotland
and Canada, while other nationalities will likely sign up yet within
the next months.
For now, roughly 50 teams of two runners
each are taking on the formidable challenge of racing each other
across the Alps in September 2007. Ambitious amateurs and pros alike
are welcome to test their meddle in this international line-up -
there are few limitations as to who can participate and we look
forward to hearing from you. So, what's holding you up from filing

Registration for GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run
2007 off to a good start
For the third time, runners from around the globe will take the
Alps in stride next September. Anyone toying with the idea of registering,
should secure a starter package soon. Nine international teams have
already committed to next year's race (01. - 08. September 2007)
since late November when online registration became available.
By the way: last year's challenging and spectacular route (2006)
will provide the blueprint for this coming summer - with few modifications.
One of the changes addresses the 4th stage and adds a new layover
in Galtür, best known for spectacular skiing but soon enough
for trail running as well!
