THE RACE

1. General Description
In the fourth consecutive year of the Alp-crossing race, the GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run is coming up with a new course profile. Starting in Ruhpolding, Germany, the whole Transalpine circus is travelling though Austria to South Tyrol, Italy. In eight stages, all participating pairs will once again experience a scenically outstanding routing which will end for the first time ever in the Dolomites. The whole distance of the GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run with its finish in Sesto – the village of the three peaks – is even longer compared to last year. Although the final route profile hasn’t been set yet (we hope to have it in springtime), the Transalpine-Run will be another challenge for body and soul again. Like all three years before, the event is made for ambitious hikers, Nordic walkers as well as marathon and mountain runners.

GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run training calendar

Since the 1. GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run 2005 many Nordic Walkers asked for a separate Nordic Walking-category. After intense discussions we came to the following solution: Thoug we will not change the Transalpine-Run-conception which is "crossing the Alps on your feet" and keep the categories WOMEN , MEN , MASTER-MEN and MIXED , we will take the times of the NORDIC WALKING teams in an unofficial ranking (no ceremonies, no price money, but with a presentation of the winning team in Latsch). All Nordic Walking teams who want to be in that unofficial ranking can sign in at the accreditation in Oberstdorf.
