Top runners start as Team Oberstdorf

Bild Physio-Team   The duo which represents the starting town of the third GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run has proofed last year that experience pays off. In 2007, Markus Schuster and Seppi Neuhauser came in as follow up men team in Latsch right behind of two-time-winners Ettore Girardi and Silvano Fedel. In addition, both finished as third in the overall ranking.

Both athletes are already in a good shape this year. Here an example of what they showed so far: At the Vorarlberg Nationals in the half marathon, Seppi took home the victory and Markus jumped on the podium as third.

Alpine Laufschule Scuol   Despite the good ranks so far and their experience in the mountain running - both are organising a 15 kilometre long run with 900 metres of elevation gain called Widdersteinlauf together with their running club - "Team Oberstdorf" is overmodest. "Our main goal is making it to Latsch and to enjoy the Transalpine-Run like last year", says 39-years-old Neuhauser. But he also adds: "Maybe we will risk a little bit more so the gap to the top athletes won't be that big anymore. But when it comes to stage races over eight days one can't name ranks or times as a goal. The ultimate ambition is to enjoy the run!"

Therefore, both are looking forward to "fantastic scenery, the other runners and a well-organised event." For this reason, Neuhauser/Schuster have to train, train and train to reach their goals - namely "with intensive mountain runs in the Kleinwalsertal."
