"Of course we cannot say anymore that finishing the race in Latsch is our main goal after everything worked out better than expected for us in 2006. We still have respect for the long and exhausting competition", says Markus Friedel, who already has entered the 2007 running season, in which the GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run is the undisputable highlight for him and his team mate Magdalena Schiffer.
In approximately five months, both will tackle the route from Oberstdorf (GER) to Latsch (ITA) well prepared, which will fascinate the participants once more from September 1st to 8th with a distance of ca. 240 kilometres and 14.000 metres of altitude. The pressure will be high for both because their opponents in the mixed category of this amazing running event will keep an eye on them. But especially Magdalena knows how it feels to be in the spot light been voted "sport woman of the year 2006" in Austrian town Ausserfern due to her last autumn's victory at the Alpes crossing event. But one thing is for sure already, too. Team "Naturpark Lechtal" can rely on the support of the stage town Steeg / Lechtal, for which the two sportsmen start, when they cross the city limits.
